HIBUN: Request due to the change of the delivery policy of Windows 10 Feature Updates by Microsoft Corporation

[1. Request]
The change of the delivery policy of Windows 10 Feature Updates in Windows 10 (version 1903) was published by Microsoft Corporation. (For details, please refer to "2. Request background")
This change may affect your environments where HIBUN is installed. So please handle it.

In the environments where HIBUN is installed, please do not update to Windows 10 (version 1903) until HIBUN supports Windows 10 (version 1903). In Windows 10 (version 1809), in order to prevent Windows 10 update (version 1903) from being installed via Windows Update, please do one of the following according to HIBUN support period#1.
(1) Manage the installation of Windows 10 Feature Updates by using Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
(2) Defer the installation of Windows 10 Feature Updates by either of the following methods.
  (a) From the Start menu, select Settings, Update & Security, Windows Update, Advanced options, and then for Choose when updates are installed, select Semi-Annual Channel(Targeted) or Semi-Annual Channel as the branch readiness level, select 120 days or more as the number of days to defer the installation of Windows 10 Feature Updates#2#3.
  (b) Start up the local group policy editor, and from the tree on the left, click Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Update, and then Windows Update for Business. From the setting items displayed on the right, enable Select when Preview Builds and Feature Updates are received, and then for Select the Windows readiness level for the updates you want to receive, select Semi-Annual Channel(Targeted) or Semi-Annual Channel, for After a Preview Build or Feature Update is released, defer receiving it for this many days, select 120 days or more#2#3.
The above action is not required for the LTSC version of Windows 10 Enterprise.

HIBUN will support Windows 10 (version 1903) as the following schedule.

Support

Support Period

Support content

Restricted Support July 2019 HIBUN will publish the released versions of HIBUN that can be used on Windows 10 (version 1903) and the restrictions.
Support August 2019
(Plans)
HIBUN will release the versions which support Windows 10 (version 1903)
#2:
When you perform installation of HIBUN client, please select Semi-Annual Channel. If you perform installation of HIBUN client on an environment where you selected as Semi-Annual Channel(Targeted), the error message, SFINSTCL_MSGID_0198 Installation is not possible because certain prerequisites are not met. will be displayed and installation failed.

#3
If you select Semi-Annual Channel, the configured number of deferral days would be added 60 days. For example, if you configured 120 days as the number of deferral days with selecting Semi-Annual Channel, Windows 10 (version 1903) updates would be deferred 180 days.
The configuration of 60 deferral days is only added to Windows 10 (version 1903) updates and not added to later version.
[2. Request background]
The change of the delivery policy of Windows 10 Feature Updates in Windows 10 (version 1903) was published by Microsoft Corporation.
Until Windows 10 (version 1809), Windows 10 Feature Updates had been delivered at two separate timings: SAC-T (Semi-Annual Channel (Targeted)) and SAC (Semi-Annual Channel). On the other hand, in Windows 10 (version 1903), Windows 10 Feature Updates will be delivered only once at the timing of SAC (Semi-Annual Channel).

So that, in the environments of Windows 10 (version 1809) that is not managed by using WSUS or SCCM, if the timing when Windows 10 Feature Updates are installed is set to Semi-Annual Channel, after 60 days from the release of Windows 10 (version 1903), Windows 10 update (version 1903) will be installed via Windows Update. Thus, if the action described in "1. Request" is not performed on Windows 10 (version 1809), Windows 10 update (version 1903) will be installed before HIBUN supports Windows 10 (version 1903), unexpected problems may occur.
